Description

COURSE OVERVIEW

This workshop will focus initially on using surfaces and imagery from the local environment, bringing together contrasting materials and techniques to develop fresh and unexpected compositions in fabric, paper and stitch.

We will start with some opening exercises and challenges to get things flowing. You will be encouraged to be expressive and playful with materials, stitch and spontaneous composition. You will be shown a variety of processes and mark making stitch techniques, both hand and machine, to help you develop an initial series of small, perhaps surprising mixed media compositions.

This will lead into time at the end of the course dedicated to the development of your own personal body of work using your original pieces as a springboard.  Other techniques may be included depending on the individual.

Throughout the workshop there will be tutorials, group discussion, individual help and demonstrations to support your learning experience.

Come with an open mind and lots of energy.
